Pinnocchio: The Vampire Slayer by Dusty Higgins

Higgins, D. (2009). Pinocchio: Vampire Slayer. CA: SLG Publishing. ISBN: 1593621760

Plot Summary
Another recreation of a classic fairy take, Pinocchio: The Vampire Slayer is full with myth, humor, horror, and sarcasm. The story begins with Pinocchio's father being killed by vampires, and Pinocchio seeks revenge. Along with a much older Blue Fairy, the ghost of a cricket, and the master woodcarver, Pinocchio spends his days and nights hunting for vampires. To kill a vampire, Pinocchio doesn't need a wooden stake, all he needs is to tell a lie.

Critical Evaluation
This book was fun to read. I find it humorous to retell classic stories, even if gore and vampires are added. Some parts of the graphic novel seemed forced, but for the most part, I look forward to the future volumes.

Readers Annotation
Sometime it is ok to tell a lie.
